Description

Twice-Signed Hopalong Cassidy Contract!

DS, two pages, 8.5 x 11, National Broadcasting Company, Inc. letterhead, March 2, 1952. Agreement between NBC and Boyd 'relating to the half-hour HOPALONG CASSIDY films produced by you.' The agreement confirms that NBC has received an offer from Associated-Rediffusion for the right to exhibit each of the forty 'new' Hopalong Cassidy pictures twice in each area in the United Kingdom and all British possessions, commending with the date of the first telecast, 'which is scheduled to be on or about September 1, 1955; the consideration offered is 2,500 per picture, payable quarterly over the two-year period.' The agreement goes on to state that 'We understand that negotiations are also being carried on with Associated-Rediffusion concerning a similar license covering the twelve so-called 'Northvine' pictures, and you appreciate that the inclusion of the 'Northvine' pictures in the overall arrangement may result in certain changes, such as an extension of the playoff and payment period.' The document is signed boldly 'William Boyd' twice on the second page. In fine condition, with the usual file and staple holes, a crease and small separation to the right border of the first page.
