In full, 'I appreciate very much your good letter of the 10th about the Great Seal of the United States. I read with interest the enclosures. We are getting almost as many days to celebrate as the Latin Americans have. In fact, if we celebrate all the days that have been suggested to me, we would need 465 days in the year instead of 365. I do appreciate most highly your telling me all about the fundamental basis on which the Great Seal is founded and it is as interesting as it can be but I am not going to issue any proclamation on it.'
