In full, '"The personal interest which I have in Madame De Pauge, Monsieur Councillor of State, causes me to recommend to you her concern (business affair); you would greatly oblige me if you could help her as quickly as possible. Accept I pray you, the assurance of my esteem. She goes on to add a short posctscript as well, 'I have the honor of presenting to you the letter which Her Majesty the Empress has required me to present to you. You see, Monsieur, how much she condescends to take an interest in my sad affair. I hope that her recommendation will have the effect which she would wish for me.'
