Accept I pray you, the assurance of my esteem. She goes on to add a short posctscript as well, 'I have the honor of presenting to you the letter which Her Majesty the Empress has required me to present to you. You see, Monsieur, how much she condescends to take an interest in my sad affair. I hope that her recommendation will have the effect which she would wish for me.'
