Description

AMQS and Autograph Tribute to Steinway

Outstanding Russian-born composer and pianist. He composed a comic opera at age 12, a ballet at 13 and 14 piano sonatas before he was 19. He created a method of rhythmic polyphony which he called 'interpunctus.' An extraordinary presentation with a 106-word autographed inscription followed by autograph musical quotations from six of his compositions. A wonderful expression of the composer's sentiments written as a tribute to Theodore Steinway on the 100th Anniversary of the House of Steinway. Signed and dated 'A. Tcherepnin, Chicago, June 27, 1953.' The whole fills an 11 x 8.5 sheet of fine paper with a double ruled border at left and two neat holes punched through the left edge for binding into an album. In part, 'Since the time of my youth in Russia and all through my life Steinway Piano was my dearest companion.' A superb item for display. In very fine condition. RRAuction COA.
