Outstanding Russian-born composer and pianist. He composed a comic opera at age 12, a ballet at 13 and 14 piano sonatas before he was 19. He created a method of rhythmic polyphony which he called 'interpunctus.' An extraordinary presentation with a 106-word autographed inscription followed by autograph musical quotations from six of his compositions. A wonderful expression of the composer's sentiments written as a tribute to Theodore Steinway on the 100th Anniversary of the House of Steinway. Signed and dated 'A. Tcherepnin, Chicago, June 27, 1953.' The whole fills an 11 x 8.5 sheet of fine paper with a double ruled border at left and two neat holes punched through the left edge for binding into an album.
