Remarkable and impressive scrapbook of the 1942 Chicago Bears, compiled by Bears booster and friend of George Halas, Dick Kerstetter. Book was assembled throughout the season and is full of news clippings, box scores and articles. Highlights of the scrapbook are a great signature and inscription from Halas, reading 'A great book Dick. I enjoyed giving it the once over. Enclosing autographed picture of the 1942 Chicago Bears. George Halas, 4/10/43.' Other highlights include a glossy 10 x 8 team photo of the Bears, signed in black ink by Halas and seven one page TLS from Halas, six on Bears letterhead and one on military letterhead. On reads, in part, 'I am now in the midst of signing the players for the coming season. About one-third of our boys are in the service but there are some mighty good ones coming back and together with the new ones we've signed, I think we will have a pretty strong team again this season.' Scrapbook also has a page signed in fountain pen by forty two members of the Bears organization or prominent football figures, including Halas, Luckman, 'Bulldog' Turner, Clark Shaughnassey, 'Hunk' Anderson, Ray Nolling and others. Also included is eighteen candid photos of the Bears at training camp, with their nicknames printed underneath each photo. Remainder of large scrapbook is full of news clippings and sports articles. In very good condition, with all pages separated from spine, light toning to letters and signed pages, a couple missing photos and some rough page edges. RRAuction COA.
