Stock certificate for the American Express Company, 12 x 8.25, January 2, 1865, signed by Henry Wells as president and William Fargo as secretary, and Alex Holland as Treasurer. The certificate, with its small etching at the top, conveys eleven shares of Capital Stock to William Van Franken at a cost of 500 per share. In very good condition, with scattered light toning, light stamps over both signatures, a couple small edge tears and several cancellation stamps.
