Description

Romain Rolland

French author, who in 1915 was awarded the Nobel Laureate in Literature as a tribute to the lofty idealism of his literary production and to the sympathy and love of truth with which he has described different types of human beings. He became a mouthpiece of the opposition to Fascism and the Nazis, and his later works contain much political and social writing. Fabulous seventeen page archive of five ALSs, all in French, and a printed telegraph dated 1976 regarding Rolland from Maise Romaine Rolland. Two letters are dated 1902, while the others are dated 1906, 1919 and 1933. In fine overall condition. This lot was sold in auction at Sotheby's over twenty five years ago. It is a magnificent collection. RRAuction COA.
