Mailing envelope, 7.5 x 5, addressed in type to mechanic C. C. Maidment, with a return address beginning 'Per monoplane 'Southern Cross,'' signed in the top left corner in fountain pen, 'C. Kingsford Smith,' with another signature to right side of envelope. Accompanied by a telegram to Maidment, dated December 21, 1928, asking Maidment, 'Would you wish to join Byrd if he delayed sailing of El Eanor Boiling.'
