Varrick showed me a paragraph of Genl. Schuyler's letter directing me to send up eight or ten head of cattle. I am not prepared to furnish cattle for that army. I took it for granted that you would supply them since you engaged to do it...I have no pork and if cattle are not provided by you the army will be under the necessity of returning home - the consequence of which would prove terrible.'
