American diplomat and lawyer (1893-1969) who became the first civilian director of the CIA. TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, October 17, 1951. Letter to author and economist Henry J. Taylor, in full: “It was good to talk with you the other day and I have been reading the reprints of your broadcast material which your secretary kindly sent me. Keep in touch with me and let me know if you have any ideas which would be useful in my line of work. I happen to be writing from New York today but my regular home address in Washington is 1308 29th Street, N.W.” In very good to fine condition, with creasing to the side margins. Henry Taylor (1902-1984) served as a foreign correspondent for the Scripps-Howard newspaper chain in the early years of World War II. After the war, Taylor hosted the General Motors-sponsored radio program Your Land and Mine, on which he was known for his conservative commentary.
