Original first edition sheet music for "The Kentucky Volunteer: A New Song, Written by a Lady of Philadelphia, Composed by R. Taylor," three pages on two sheets, 9.5 x 12.5, published in Philadelphia on January 6, 1794. The song is historic as the first musical composition copyrighted under the new United States Constitution, and as the first work published by Benjamin Carr, who would become the country's most prolific printer of music of the era. In fine condition, with partial separation along the hinge.
