TLS signed “Lyndon,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Congress of the United States, House of Representatives letterhead, September 29, 1937. Letter to E. E. Oberholtzer of Houston Public Schools, in full: "I hope you have been able to offer assistance to Mrs. Mamie Allison of Houston about whom I have talked to you in the past. She is certainly deserving of every consideration. My father has been seriously ill for the past few weeks or I would have been down to see you, but, of course, you know that when I can be of service all you have to do is call upon me. I think, however, you have one of the best congressmen in the South in Albert Thomas." He adds a handwritten postscript, signed "L.B.J.," in full: "I surely hope you can give Mrs. Allison a regular teaching assignment." In fine condition, with light edge toning and several clerical notations to the margins. Accompanied by a later wirephoto of Johnson as Senate Majority Leader.
