ALS signed “Ja's Monroe,” one page, 7.75 x 8.5, February 20, 1793. Handwritten letter regarding the repayment of bank notes, mentioning Jefferson allies Edmund Randolph and James Yard. In part: "I have in the bank three notes two of which, (one for forty pounds Virg'a currency drawn by Wm. Davenport—& deposited by Galbreath & Co: & the other of 400 dol'rs indorsed by James Yard) were satisfied by the last indorsed by Edm'd Randolph for 1000 dol'rs.—Of this last 463 1/2 dol'rs were rec'd by Mr. Randolph & for which he today accts. with the bank. It remains therefore that I now pay you five hundred and thirty six & a half dol'rs, and that you return me all the said notes." Professionally inlaid into a larger sheet and in fine condition.
