Description

Original vintage circa 1958–62 glossy 8 x 10 silver gelatin news service photograph of Al Capone in court after his 1931 arrest, with a United Press International Photo credit stamp on the reverse. In fine condition. Encapsulated by PSA as an authentic 'Type II' photograph.

In 1931, notorious gangster Al Capone was arrested and convicted for tax evasion, marking the beginning of his downfall. Despite his extensive criminal empire, authorities struggled to charge him for more serious crimes like bootlegging and murder, eventually targeting his financial records. Capone was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison, a historic case that demonstrated the power of forensic accounting in combating organized crime.
