NASA engineer and manager (1937-2004) who joined NASA in 1964 and later became the agency's tenth flight director. He served as a flight director during the Apollo 17, Skylab, and Apollo-Soyuz Test Project missions, Skylab, and the first Space Shuttle mission. Puddy was on duty during the Apollo 11 lunar landing and he served as head of the team that came up with many of the Lunar Module lifeboat procedures that were eventually used after the Apollo 13 accident. Immense binder from the personal collection of NASA engineer Don Puddy, who used this binder extensively at his Mission Control workstation during the historic Gemini program. The binder, which measures 11˝ x 11.25˝ and 3.5˝ thick, contains five different NASA manuals and numerous, which are as follows: “Gemini, Gemini Agena Operations Handbook, Vehicle 5006 (August 18, 1966),” “Gemini, Gemini Agena Operations Handbook, Vehicle 5004 (March 7, 1966),” “Flight Controllers Operations Handbook…Revision B (December 1, 1966),” “Gemini, Gemini Operations Handbook (Section I) Gemini IX, Rev C (May 20, 1966),” and “Gemini, Standard Operating Procedures - Remote Site, Gemini IX, ATDA (May 21, 1966).” Hundreds of pages in length, with immense technical literature on all aspects of Gemini space flight, the manuals contain numerous illustrations and foldout schematics and diagrams, in addition to copious handwritten notations by Puddy. In overall very good to fine condition, with expected signs of wear and use.
