Autograph endorsement, signed “Received payment—H'y Marchant,” one page, 7.5 x 3.25, December 20, 1779. Marchant endorses a State of Rhode Island pay order, signed on the front by Henry Ward as secretary, in full: "The General Assembly at December Session 1779 ordered One Thousand, One Hundred & Sixty-five Pounds to be paid to Henry Marchant out of the General Treasury." In fine condition, with light toning and intersecting folds. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from JSA.
