ALS signed “J. A. Garfield,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, illustrated Fortieth Congress letterhead, January 15, 1868. Handwritten letter to "Harry," in part: "We are all delighted to hear of your safe arrival. Your letter of yesterday is just received—I have only time before going to the House to send you the love of the family and ask you to come here at once. We have a comfortable house and a warm place for you—We are at 307 Delaware Avenue, Cor. C St., North Capitol Hill—only two squares from the Depot. You can be in the house in three minutes after you step off the cars—I have made several engagements for you in the lecture field—and have some letters for you." In fine condition.
