Original detailed pencil sketch of geometric design accomplished by Jack Ruby on a 7 x 4.75 sheet, done while imprisoned at Dallas County Jail in 1965, signed and inscribed on the reverse in blue ballpoint to his prison bodyguard, Ray Pennington, "6/7/65, To Ray and Charlotte, Best always, Jack Ruby." In fine condition, with some light soiling and rippling, and the edges folded over. Encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA as “MINT 9.”
In a letter to JFK collector Dr. John Lattimer, Ruby's prison bodyguard Ray Pennington discussed Ruby's process and state of mind when creating this type of drawing: 'He worked on these drawings when he was nervous, restless, or aggravated about something. Just when the mood hit him—he would work until he got tired or sleepy. He sharpened his pencil constantly on a scratch piece of paper…he never gave any reason for folding the paper around the edge.'
