Description

Scarce official French-language participation diploma from the St. Moritz 1928 Winter Olympics, 11.5 x 16.5, issued to (translated) “Mr. General Ch. H. Sherrill, member of the C.I.O. for the United States.” Signed below in ink by the Swiss Organizing Committee president and by International Olympic Committee President Henri de Baillet-Latour.” In fine condition, with slight creases to edges, and a chip to the lower left corner. Charles Hitchcock Sherrill was an American politician, diplomat, and sports officer (1867–1936) who was an important member of the IOC and served as a U.S. ambassador to Argentina and Turkey.
