As collector of the Port of Boston and Charlestown, Benjamin Lincoln certifies an import of a "Hogshead of Rum" from Jamaica. Signed at the conclusion by Benjamin Lincoln as collector and countersigned by Thomas Melvill as inspector. In fine condition, with slightly irregular faint toning. Lincoln is remembered as the Continental Army officer who formally accepted the British surrender at Yorktown, while Melvill is best known as a member of the Sons of Liberty who participated in the Boston Tea Party. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
