ALS as president, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, Executive Mansion letterhead, December 25, 1896. Handwritten letter to James Parkinson of Boston, paying for his share of the ice used at his summer home at Buzzards Bay. In full: "Enclosed please find my check for $53 40/100 in full for my share of the ice in the Summer of 1896 as by your statement. I notice we put in 115 tons and consumed only about 30. I suppose however a large allowance must be made for waste and melting. Perhaps some of these days we shall be able to take in additional partners resulting in cheaper ice. In the meantime I am entirely content, and prepared at the next meeting of Stockholders, to present and move the adoption of, resolutions commending our 'manager' for the zeal, capacity and fidelity with which he has discharged the delicate and important duties of his position. With sincere congratulations and good wishes appropriate to the Season from our homestead to yours." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Cleveland's own hand.
