Description

Magnificent original painting by renowned Disney artist Paul Wenzel entitled ‘Arizona Waterfall,’ accomplished in acrylic on 24 x 36 stretched canvas, which is signed in the lower left by the artist. The painting is a rural masterwork of great detail and scope, depicting a noble 10-point buck standing on a cliff overlooking a dramatic waterfall in Arizona, the background looming with mountains, forest, and a cold running river. In fine condition.

Wenzel joined Walt Disney in 1958 as a designer/illustrator for the Motion Picture Advertising Department and worked on over 100 films, including the Oscar-winning Mary Poppins. Additionally, Wenzel designed nearly a dozen Disney Company Christmas cards and, in 1966, he famously painted Walt Disney's portrait for the 6-cent commemorative stamp after the founder’s death. In 2000, he retired and moved to Prescott, Arizona, where his love of animals and the American Southwest blossomed and became the subject of his life’s work in later age.

From the archives of Master Disney Artist/Art Director Paul Wenzel.
