(Walt Disney Studios, 1981) Original concept painting of Tod by legendary Disney artist Mel Shaw for The Fox and the Hound, which depicts the fox seated in the forest and surrounded by three curious crows, one of which is shown grabbing Tod’s fluffy tail with its wings. Accomplished in pastel on 9.5 x 7.5 artist paper. Matted and framed to an overall size of 18 x 15. In fine condition.
Mel Shaw was an American animator, writer, and artist (1914-2012) who was involved in the animation, story design, and visual development of numerous Disney animated films, including Bambi, The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King. He was named a Disney Legend in 2004 for his contributions to The Walt Disney Company.
