Handwritten notes in pencil by President John F. Kennedy on an off-white 2.75 x 4.5 sheet, no date but ostensibly early 1962. The notes, probably jotted while on the telephone, read: “Tampa,” “Tribune,” “Red Newton,” and “Jan. 26th 1962.” Kennedy incorporates his trademark doodles, such as underlines and boxes. Matted and framed with a photo of JFK and a partially correct descriptive caption to an overall size of 16.75 x 13. In fine condition. Kennedy’s handwriting remains highly coveted by presidential collectors.
V. M. ‘Red’ Newton, Jr., was the managing editor of the Tampa Tribune in Florida and the chairman of Sigma Delta Chi’s freedom of information committee.
