Original working sketch by Robert Indiana of a draft for artwork incorporating his iconic "LOVE" design, accomplished in brown and red felt tip on an off-white lined 7.75 x 10 sheet, signed on the reverse in pencil, "R. in.," adding "LOVE." At the top, Indiana sketches a a flag-themed "Old Glory Banner" and a "Love Banner," which uses his famed double-row "LOVE" design with a slanted "O." In the center row, Indiana draws two three examples of the double-row "LOVE" design, one as a mirror image. Below, he continues the theme with another "LOVE" concept in a slightly different format.
