Mailing envelope, measuring 5.25 x 3.25 folded, addressed in the hand of John Quincy Adams to “Rev. William Jenks, Boston,” with Adams writing below, “To be left at the Post office, Boston.” In fine condition. William Jenks (1778-1866) was a Congregationalist minister of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and then Bath, Maine. He returned to Boston in 1818 and opened the first free chapel for seamen on Central Wharf. Rev. Jenks officiated at a church on Green Street for 25 years.
