The illustrator, Francis W. Dahl was an editorial cartoonist for the Boston Herald for many years. His New York Times obituary described him as 'Boston's best‐known cartoonist,' whose 'cartoons focused on Bostonians and their politics, customs, costumes and foibles, with most of his subjects growing out of local news items.' A desirable piece presented by Boston's most famous cartoonist to its most famous politician.
