Description

Page partners with the 'Pin-up King,' photographer Irving Klaw

DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, September 24, 1953. Assignment of rights to photographer Irving Klaw, in full: "I, the undersigned, being of lawful age, or and in consideration of $ received, do release and give all commercial and publication rights to photographs and motion picture films taken of myself, with or without the use of my name, solely and exclusively to Irving Klaw or assigns." Signed at the conclusion by Bettie Page, who adds her address, "65 W. 46th St., N.Y.C." In fine condition.

In 1952, a few years after moving to New York City, Page began modeling for noted fetish photographer and filmmaker Irving Klaw. During the five years they worked together, both Page and Klaw gained widespread popularity in the erotic photographic industry, with the former ultimately becoming the first famous bondage model. Given the time period of her hiring, this early document marks the ascent of Page as one of history's most popular pinup models.
