ALS signed “Jim,” one page both sides, 8.25 x 10.75, Hotel Weisses Haus (Berlin, Germany) letterhead, August 16, 1936. Handwritten letter to his wife, Maude Evelyn Sherman, in full: “Hellen’s letter came this morning just before I left from Breakfast and I was glad to get it because I will not likely hear from you again before I land in N.Y. or start from Cherbourg. I will be in Geneva from the 19–to 22. Then in Paris 22-24. Cherbourg 25 and we sail on the Aquitania on the 25th. I will feel like getting out and running when the train starts from N.Y. I always feel that I could make better time on foot than the train makes. Hellen tells me that you are feeling better. I hope you will keep on feeling better so that we can have a good time together. My trip has been a wonderful one and I feel that it was worth all the trouble that it was, besides the pleasure that I have had meeting so many fine people. Well dearie my bus is almost ready to take me to the depot. I will get to Frankfurt about 11 O’clock tonight. Love to your own dear self and all the folks of 1st & 2nd generations.” In fine condition. Encapsulated and graded by PSA/DNA as "NM-MT 8." Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
