Uncommon 'Honorary Knight Commander' commission signed by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip

DS, signed “Elizabeth R” and “Philip,” one page, 12.5 x 15, February 3, 1955. Official document from Queen Elizabeth II, who grants “the Dignity of an Honorary Knight Commander of the Civil Division of the Order of the British Empire to Grayson Louis Kirk, Esq.” Signed at the head in fountain pen by Queen Elizabeth II and countersigned at the conclusion by Prince Philip. In very fine condition. Accompanied by its original mailing envelope and presentation mount. Grayson Kirk (1903-1997) was a political scientist who served as president of Columbia University between 1953 and 1968.
