Handwritten letter to Daniel Patrick Moynihan, in full: “Someone sent me a copy of your ‘remarks’ Dec. 21st – the cabinet swan song – I thought they were really terrific – they should ‘fire up’ the troops to emphasize the position and get going! I regret that just as I came on to the non-elected side of things you haul out, but I am determined to profit by your ideas – so please give me advice. Better still, when in New York, come by – Best of wishes.” In fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corner, and a name notation erasure beneath the signature. Accompanied by a typed response from Moynihan dated January 29, 1971, who writes “Of course I shall be at your service for anything I might make sense trying to do,” while also adding that the “President asked me to remain consultant to him.”
