Flown sealed pack of "Candy Coated Peanutes" carried aboard Space Shuttle Atlantis on the STS-74 mission, measuring approximately 4.5˝ x 3.5˝, with affixed blue Velcro swatch and barcode label. In fine condition, with some cracking to the colorful candy coating. Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Cameron, in part: "I certify that the sealed package of Candy Coated Peanuts shown above, was flown into space by me on the STS-74 mission, and it has been a part of my personal collection ever since." Also includes an embroidered mission patch and plaque for display purposes.
STS-74, an eight-day mission commanded by Ken Cameron, was the fourth mission of the US/Russian Shuttle–Mir program, and the second docking of the Space Shuttle with the Mir space station. M&Ms became the first candy to fly in space on STS-3 in 1982, and remain a favorite treat of astronauts today.
