Deke Slayton's scarce embroidered Soviet Zvezda Rocket patch, measuring 3˝ x 5.75˝, featuring a rocket over a star-studded blue velvet field, with "CCCP" and and image of Earth embroidered below in gold. This mission emblem was used on several early Soviet manned flights; most notably, cosmonaut Alexei Leonov wore one on his Berkut EVA suit during man's first-ever spacewalk, conducted during the Voskhod 2 mission in March 1965. In fine condition.
Accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Bobbie Slayton, the widow of Deke Slayton, in full: "This letter is to certify that this original 3"x 6" CCCP patch from the former Soviet Union, was a part of the personal collection of Donald 'Deke' Slayton, former Original 7 Mercury astronaut. This patch was obtained by Slayton during training for his Apollo-Soyuz mission. This patch has been in my possession since the passing of my husband in 1993."
