Description

"This flag made 45 orbits of the moon in our command module, ‘Yankee Clipper,’ before returning to planet Earth with us"

Flown embroidered American flag patch carried into lunar orbit aboard the Command Module Yankee Clipper during the Apollo 12 mission, measuring 3.5 x 2.25, signed in black felt tip by LMP Alan Bean. In fine condition. Accompanied by a signed and flight-certified certificate of authenticity from Bean, in part: “I hereby certify that the accompanying 2.5 inch by 3.5 inch embroidered American flag flew with Pete Conrad, Dick Gordon and me during our Apollo 12 mission in November 1969. The American flag is a symbol of the extraordinary commitment, intelligence, and heart of all the Americans who made it possible for us to land on the moon. I remember the patriotic pride I felt saluting the American flag Pete and I placed on the Ocean of Storms. This flag made 45 orbits of the moon in our command module, ‘Yankee Clipper’ before returning to planet Earth with us.”
