Description

British physicist, chemist, and mathematician (1862–1942) who shared the 1915 Nobel Prize in Physics with his son Lawrence Bragg, for 'their services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays.' ALS signed “W. H. Bragg,” one page, 4.5 x 7, black-bordered mourning stationery, October 14, 1929. Addressed from Chiddingfold, Surrey, a handwritten letter to Mr. Worthington, in full: “It was very good of you to write and I appreciate highly what you say of my wife. It is just what she would most have wished to hear. With kindest regards.” In fine condition. In this letter, Bragg refers to his wife, Gwendoline Todd, who died the same year.
