Legendary screenwriter Philip Dunne's Valentine Davies Award, one of the highest bestowed by the Writers Guild of America, featuring a solid silver 2.75˝ medal mounted on a 6˝ x 6˝ plaque, with presentation plate below: "In memory of Valentine Davies whose contribution to the motion picture community brought dignity and honor to writers everywhere. Philip Dunne, 1974."
Valentine Davies was the writer of Miracle on 34th Street, as well as a past president of the WGA, and after he died in 1961, this award was created and named for him. Dunne received it in recognition for his work, which included the screenplays for How Green Was My Valley, The Ghost And Mrs. Muir, The Agony and The Ecstasy, Pinky, and Forever Amber. Philip Dunne, Lamar Trotti, and Nunnally Johnson were dubbed the 'Three Princes of Fox' due to their excellent output of Academy Award–winning material.
