Complete issue of Harper's Weekly from April 29, 1865, Vol. IX, No. 435, 15 pages (pp. 258 - 272), 11.5 x 16.5, with the front page featuring a large engraving of John Wilkes Booth, with his facsimile signature below. The lead story, "The Murder of the President," chronicles the tragic events of April 14, 1865. Other illustrations found within include "The Assassination of President Lincoln at Ford's Theatre," "After the Act," "Plan of the Box Occupied by President Lincoln at Ford's Theatre," and others related to the assassination and ongoing Civil War. In good to very good condition, with pages uncut, several edge tears, some fraying interior pages, and some scattered staining.
