Complete issue of the New-York Herald from December 25, 1811, four pages, 14 x 20, with reporting on the proceedings of the Court of Enquiry's investigation into the 'Little Belt affair,' including transcripts of testimony given before the committee. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, some scattered staining, and a contemporary ink notation to the top margin.

The Little Belt affair was a naval battle off the North Carolina coast on the night of May 16, 1811, involving the United States frigate USS President and the British sixth-rate HMS Little Belt, a sloop-of-war. One American sailor was injured, while the Little Belt suffered nine dead and 23 injured. The Little Belt Affair was one of many incidents and events that led to the War of 1812.
