Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 8.5 x 11.25, January 5, 1871. President Grant directs the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to “an envelope containing a letter addressed to Queen Victoria — (Credence of Mr. R. C. Schenck).” Signed crisply at the conclusion by U. S. Grant. In fine condition.

This document pertains to the appointment of Ohio Congressman Robert C.
