Fabulous thank-you card sent following his 80th birthday, 6 x 4.75, May 1936, signed in fountain pen, "Freud," with three untranslated handwritten lines in German. The printed text, in German, reads (translated): "Thank you very much for your participation in the celebration of my eightieth birthday." In fine condition, with light creasing in the blank areas. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Freud's hand to theoretical physicist Ludwig Hopf, a former assistant to and collaborator with Albert Einstein who held a great interest in psychoanalysis.
