Description

ALS signed “A. Burr,” one page, 8 x 10, June 1, 1798. Handwritten letter to John Laurance, the president pro tempore of the United States Senate, in part: “You may recollect controversies between…Samuel Bayard & Moses & Joseph Hunt relative to an award made in of Ulster County between S. Bayard…& Moses Hunt—Joseph, on whom the burthen fell, claims a payment of 25 [pounds] paid by you to me. I find two payments, but neither exactly corresponding with the amount alleged…I write to ask you if you have any Mem. or receipt which will show the fact. He waits in town…to receive your answer.” Double-matted and framed with a portrait and plaque to an overall size of 23.5 x 20.25. In fine condition, with a small area of paper loss to the right edge.
