Addressed from “Head Quarters Greeneville,” a handwritten supply request, in part: “The Commissary will please to issue for the Chippawas & Ottawas sixty pounds of beef & flour & forty galls of Whiskey.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered small areas of paper loss.
In 1793, at the age of 20, Harrison became aide-de-camp to General 'Mad' Anthony Wayne in the Ohio Indian Wars. Two years later, he would be a signatory to the 1795 Treaty of Greenville, which ended the Northwest Indian War. In the treaty, a coalition of Native American tribes, including the Ottawa, Potawatomi, Chippewa, Miami, and Shawnee, ceded a large area of midwestern land to the United States in exchange for goods valued at $20,000. Harrison would come to national fame nearly two decades later when he again fought the Native Americans, most prominently in a victorious effort over Tecumseh at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.
