Description

American military officer (1836-1881), who, as a general in the Civil War, earned the sobriquet 'Kill-Cavalry' for his gung-ho disregard for the lives of the soldiers under his command. Civil War-dated ink endorsement signature, "J. Kilpatrick," concluding a manuscript note on an off-white 3.25 x 2 slip clipped from a docketing panel, October 27, 1863, in full: "Approved and respectfully forwarded." In fine condition.
