Uncommon souvenir dolls from the 1972 and 1980 Summer Olympics held in Munich and Moscow, including: a Münchner Kindl or ‘Munich child’ doll, 9.75˝ in height, dressed in a monk’s robe with a “Munchen 1972” Olympic shield to the chest, and a beer stein in the right hand; Münchner Kindl is the name of the symbol on the coat of arms of the city of Munich. The second is a Russian folk doll with long braided hair, 19˝ in height, wearing a traditional Russian dress with two Olympics pins affixed to the chest and the headdress reading “80 Moskva 80.” In overall very good to fine condition, with a split to right side of Russian doll head, which also bears an ink mark near the right eye.
