American author (1848-1908) best known for his 'Uncle Remus' stories. TLS, one page, 5.25 x 6.75, Uncle Remus's Magazine letterhead, April 1, 1907. Letter to a gentleman, in full: "I think you have the first edition. The book was published serially in the Saturday Evening Post, and, in that form, was copyrighted by the Curtis Publishing Company. Then when the stories were assembled in book form they were copyrighted in that shape by Doubleday, Page & Co." In fine condition.
