Uncommon opening ceremony badge for the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle. Silver-tone, 16 gm, 32 mm, with the front featuring a torchbearer riding on the back of Nike, the goddess of victory, with embossed text in French, “Exposition Universelle Internationale 1900”; and the reverse bearing laurel branches with raised text (translated), “The French Republic to the Workers Collaborating with the Exhibition,” above a tablet with the name “L. Daveux.” Includes its original Flag of France ribbon with staple pin. In fine condition. These badges were presented at the opening of the Exposition to event staff that helped organize and construct the event.
