Sought-after original color 11.5 x 32.25 poster for the Love and Peace Festival (also known as the Festival of Love), which was held on the Baltic island of Fehmarn, Germany, from September 4 to 6, 1970. The poster shows a pink sky, a blue ocean, and then a field of green leaves listing the various performers, which includes: Jimi Hendrix, Canned Heat, Sly & the Family Stone, Ten Years After, Procol Harum, Ginger Baker’s Air Force, Joan Baez, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and more. Rolled and in fine condition. On September 6, 1970, Hendrix played his last show at Germany's Open Air Love and Peace Festival, amidst pouring rain after a day's delay. The legendary guitarist would pass away in London less than two weeks later.
Four configurations of this poster were made: a small black and white, a small color, a large black and white, and a large color, this poster being the second of those four. They were all printed way before the weekend for purposes of advertising the event, but also as merch pieces to be sold on the grounds during the festival. The smaller versions say ‘Poster DM 1.-’ at the bottom, meaning its price was one Deutschmark. The bigger posters were 2 DM.
