ALS, one page both sides, 5 x 7.75, May 15, 1858. Handwritten letter to jurist and politician Ira Harris, in part: "As you know all the circumstances, you can well appreciate the anxiety which I feel on behalf of Mrs. Fillmore, to know that the inventory of her late husband's estate has been filed & everything relating to it made a matter of official record, to prevent any misunderstanding or complaint hereafter. I hope therefore, though I have not heard from you, that you have found time to attend to it, as you thought you would before the first of May…We are in usual health, & very busy in putting our house in order, but the fatigue is so great that I fear for Mrs. Fillmore's health." In fine condition, with trimming to the lower portion of the blank integral page, affecting nothing.
