Description

Original World War I–era 13 x 15.5 "Pictorial News" poster for War Savings Stamps, entitled "The Portrait of a Champion." The caption read: "This a portrait of Moses Siegel, a New York pushcart peddler, 79 years old, who claims the long distance Thrift Championship. Ever since December, 1917, he has purchased at least one War Savings Stamp every week. He is here shown just as he appeared at the Federal Reserve Bank to convert his 1919 Stamps into one of the new $1000 Treasury Savings Certificates." Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 20.5 x 23.5. In fine condition, with smoothed intersecting folds.
