Description

American businessman, financier, and statesman (1870-1965), known as the 'Lone Wolf on Wall Street,' who served as an important defense and economic advisor to Presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Two TLSs, signed "B. M. Baruch" and "Bernard M. Baruch," each one page, 5.5 x 6 and 7.25 x 9, personal letterhead, March 27, 1954 and March 19, 1944. The first, in part: "It was certainly good of you to ask me to the Banshees Annual Luncheon. If I am in New York, I will come." The second, in part: "I cannot refrain from expressing to you my appreciation of the last sentence of your letter, 'I would suspect myself as soon as I would suspect Mr. Baruch.' I may not always hit the nail on the head, but I have been trying very hard for fifty years." Nicely cloth-matted and framed with a portrait and biographical caption to an overall size of 31 x 25.5. In fine condition, with some scattered staining to the earlier letter.
